The concept of electroacupuncture according to Voll's method (EAV)
Electrodermal screening
Reinhold Voll, a German physician and acupuncturist, began a study of the effects of electricity on human physiology in the late 1940s. Voll used a technique called “ohmmeter” in his studies. An ohmmeter measures electrical resistance (R) and is also capable of measuring conductivity (G), as the two are opposite values. so that G=1/R.
By measuring the electrical conductivity of points in the human body, Voll found that there is a relatively high electrical resistance in the body. He also found that certain anatomical points are highly conductive to electric current. His observations indicated the fact that these points corresponded to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) points.
Voll and Fritz Werner developed equipment that allowed measuring and recording the electrical conductivity potential of acupuncture points on the skin. He called this device “Diatherapunktteur”. This path led to the development of a technique called electrical conductivity measurement (ECM). The basis of this diagnostic technique was the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine points as well as acupuncture points, known as electrical acupuncture according to Voll’s method (EAV), electrodermal screening (EDS), or meridian stress assessment (MSA).
Meridian Stress Assessment (MSA)
Energy meridians and points on these meridians have been documented in great detail by acupuncture for over 3,000 years. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in every biological system there is a connection between these energy channels and measuring points (MPs) in the skin. The term Mardin includes the lines on which the measurement points are located and the organs or internal systems that are connected to these points. There are twelve main men and eight minor men.
There is one control measurement point (CMP) for each of these twenty men corresponding to each half of the anatomical region. These points are mapped onto the fingers and toes, and there are over 2,000 other measurement points associated with almost every part of every major biological system. It corresponds to what is known to date.
Active processes, which include electrical and magnetic processes, vibrational regulation, and biophoton emission, are essential to all life processes. The biological energy that flows through the system of meridians carries biological information and is vital for the process of biological self-regulation. Biological energy is called Chee in traditional Chinese medicine. This active system is the main homeostatic control mechanism of every normal function in the body.
All the functions of the human body are actively connected through men. The organs and their functions are under the influence of a male system and its various branches. Imbalance in the energy system of the affected organ leads to disease. An imbalance in the meridian system affects one or more organs along the meridian. When physiological compensatory mechanisms are inadequate, this imbalance manifests as signs and symptoms somewhere along the causal chain.
While the origin of the Mardin system is very old, its scientific understanding was achieved when Nakatani discovered the electrical conductivity properties of Mardin. discovered In 1951, Dr. Yoshio Nakatani presented his research and theory on Rioduraku acupuncture. Nakatani found that there are a number of points with low electrical resistance (or high electrical conductivity) longitudinally from top to bottom of the body. These points correspond perfectly with acupuncture points.
Nakatani named these lines (or mendins) “Ryodurako” (ryo = good – do = (electrically) conductive – raku = line). He named the lines “H” or “F” depending on whether they were on the hand or foot. So H1-H6 are the six arm rioduracos that start or end in the hand, and F1-F6 are the six leg rioduracos that start or end in the foot.
Often, these names are used instead of the classical Chinese meridian names. Therefore, H1 is the lung meridian, H2 is the pericardial meridian, and so on. The meridian of the hands and feet was measured at the points of the wrists and ankles. These points are commonly known as “source points” or “yuan points” in traditional Chinese acupuncture. Today, these points are also known as “Nakatani points” in honor of Dr. Nakatani. These points are the most active points in the meridians and have 4-6 times more activity than others. Source points are mostly related to internal organs and to the general energy state of men. Therefore, these points are very effective in measuring the energy levels of the meridians, or qi energy.
Nakatani improved and developed the process of diagnosis and treatment. The diagnosis was made with an electrical instrument that measures the electrical conductivity of the skin. By measuring the conductivity of each man, excess or lack of energy can be identified at these points. Treatment in his method consisted of stimulating specific acupuncture points to strengthen a meridian with insufficient energy or to calm an irritated meridian.
It should be noted that electric acupuncture according to Voll’s method with conventional medical diagnostic imaging techniques such as radiography, computed tomography or Magnetic resonance imaging is different. The image obtained using the method of electric acupuncture according to the Voll method is not an image of the physical anatomy of the body, but rather an image of the anatomy of bioenergy, which is the power or It shows the relative weakness of the body’s electromagnetic energy in every man, which has the greatest effect on the imbalance of the men’s system.
It is a widely accepted fact that before the morphological manifestation of a disease process, there is a pre-clinical stage in which if the system Physiological can not balance, clinical symptoms are revealed. Orthodox medicine with all the methods it uses, including differential diagnosis, clinical findings, diagnostic techniques, pharmacological and surgical interventions, He tries to help patients. Barring the unpleasant results of these well-known and well-documented efforts, orthodox medicine seems to work well.
Bioenergy medicine, using electrical acupuncture according to the Voll method, seeks to diagnose and track active and regulatory disorders that precede or accompany changes. It develops morphologically and biochemically in the course of the disease. In the pre-clinical stage, electric acupuncture according to Voll’s method can determine the acute causative factors. It is estimated that at least 70% of patients who suffer from disorders with no damage to tissues, organs or the use of diagnostic methods. Orthodoxy cannot be explained.
Wall measurements
We should keep in mind that the EAV measurement is a type of indirect measurement of the energy system. We should also keep in mind that EAV is not the same as standard medical health physiological, pathological, and biochemical tests. When Voll measured liver function, he did not examine the liver as an organ, but rather the energy status of the liver. EAV can be an indicator or a quality screening tool, but it does not examine the actual physiology, biochemistry, or pathology of the organ.
So, if the EAV method is only a relative indicator, then what is it worth? It is wrong to assume that EAV is not a valuable parameter. When a doctor evaluates standard blood count values, his goal is to better understand the health of the body’s cells. Health includes the health of tissues, organs and glands, which are all made up of cells. But when we test the blood, our goal is not only to test the cells, but through the blood test we can indirectly understand what is happening inside the body. The energy system is also a part of the body and is related to every event that happens in our body. Therefore, energy system testing gives us a valuable, non-invasive picture of everything that is going on in the body. But how can we reach a useful evaluation of the energy system from the electrical conductivity test? There are some useful tips that can help us achieve reliable results:
Electricity flows through a man.
Electricity flow is related to meridian health.
Voll has published a great deal of information on the use of acupuncture points for diagnostic purposes. Until then, acupuncture points were mainly used for treatment. For example, he found that patients with lung cancer had abnormal symptoms in certain acupuncture points called lung points. Also, changes are observed in the electrical conductivity of the acupuncture points that provide energy to the inflamed musculoskeletal structures.
These observed changes in EAV measurements associated with lung cancer were recently confirmed by researchers at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) and USC (University of Southern California).
When inserting the needle into the skin area corresponding to the acupuncture point, Voll could extract information about the person’s condition by reading the needle mark on the ohmmeter he used. Regardless of who is taking the measurement, regardless of age, weight, gender, or race, seeing a number of 50 unchanged over time (no drop in index) is a sign of the fact that those men are healthy and energetic. It is balanced
Irritation and inflammation: Measurements at points significantly above 50 (over 65) indicate irritation, and points above 75 indicate inflammation. Inflammatory tissue swells. Therefore, it holds more liquid than normal. The presence of more fluid is equivalent to more electrical conductivity of the tissue. Therefore, if the tissue is inflamed, the conductivity will be higher.
If there is a continuous decrease from the top to the bottom, this is called index drop (ID) and it indicates a weakness or disorder in the tissue, and in this situation it can be argued that men have poor performance from a functional point of view.
When the index is significantly less than 50 (<40), men have little energy. A chronically inflamed organ, such as cirrhosis of the liver, may harden. As the organs become stiff, tissue hydration decreases. Therefore, they cannot be electrically conductive as before. As a result, it shows a low energy index.
Physical basis of EAV testing
The physiology behind EAV is the “galvanic skin response” (GRS), also known as “electrodermal activity” and the “sympathetic skin response” (SSR). which is an electrophysiological test to assess sympathetic activity. Sympathetic skin response (SSR) indicates the electrical potential generated in the sweat glands of the skin.
Sympathetic skin response is elicited by various types of stimuli, including electrical stimulation of a peripheral nerve, or spinal magnetic stimulation, electrical skin response with electrodes on the palms and soles. Waveform shape, latency, and amplitude can be analyzed and used to assess sympathetic function in the diagnosis of autonomic disorders such as neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and erectile dysfunction. Skin sympathetic response using a standard electromyography tool is considered a simple and realistic technique to assess the sympathetic response.
The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for regulating many homeostatic mechanisms in the body. The fibers of the sympathetic system innervate the tissues of almost all organs, systems, and tissues. Therefore, it is reasonable to consider that the evaluation of the sympathetic response of the skin can reflect the homeostasis of each relevant organ, system and tissue type. Voll was the first to associate the concept of sympathetic skin response with acupuncture points. The biophysical property of skin sympathetic response can be an excellent way to assess the functional status of organs and related systems as well as the men’s system.
Acupuncture points and electricity
The cytoskeleton is connected to the extracellular matrix in which collagen and elastic fibers are located through integrins located in the cell membrane.
Due to the cytoplasmic electric fields, the anions and cations in the cytoplasm can be transferred to the extracellular matrix through integrin and flow along the meridians. In other words, pairs of positive and negative ions (electric dipoles) are diffused by the organs at the respective points through the meridians.
Another theory is that the potential difference generated in the cytoplasm is thought to act as a battery, and the cytoskeleton, integrins, and extracellular matrix can be considered as a current-carrying cable. Different organs have different electrical polarity. It is known that the cells of every organ have “cell polarity”.
The electric field produced in the cytoplasm has the same direction in almost all the cells of the organs such as the liver, lungs and digestive system due to the cell polarity. This means that the electric field that appears in the cytoplasm will have a limited value other than zero (tissue electric pole) due to the cell polarity. So if the electric field is partially transferred from inside the cytoplasm to the extracellular matrix, it creates electricity that can flow through meridians.
In summary, extracellular positive and negative ion pairs can diffuse along the collagen and elastic fibers of the extracellular matrix at meridian points. And since meridians are anatomically related to connective tissue levels, chi energy is believed to flow along meridians. Therefore, qi energy is considered as a flow of electrical dipoles that emanates from the cells. Cells can communicate by any of four main mechanisms: direct membrane contact, local paracrine mediators, endocrine signaling, and neuronal synapses. Reactivity through meridians may be a fifth communication mechanism between cells that are far apart.
Men of Vol
Although the basis of the EAV system is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Voll discovered many additional measuring points (MPs) and new functions in already known points. His measurement points for existing men are not always the same as Chinese acupuncture points.
New meridians include: lymphatic system, nervous system, blood circulation, allergies, cellular metabolism, joints, fibrous tissue, skin and fat tissue. There is one male EAV on each side of each finger and each toe. So compared to the 12 known Chinese meridians, there will be 20 EAV men on each side of the body.
The function of Vol. meridians
Lymphatic Vessel Meridian (LY)
In classical acupuncture, there is only one meridian on the big toe compared to the big toe, and that is the lung meridian, which is located on the ulnar side of the big toe. Voll has discovered and described the point of the lymphatic vessel on the opposite and ulnar side of the thumb.
This vessel controls the lymphatic function of various organs and mostly reflects the condition of the head organs such as the ear, nose, and throat. Changes and deviations of the meridian status of lymphatic vessels from normal conditions can reflect diseases in tonsils, paranasal sinuses, teeth, lungs, esophagus, larynx, pharynx, heart, thyroid gland.
Lung meridian (LU)
The lung meridian includes classical Chinese meridians, but in the Wol system, the end point of the meridian is located on the side of the inner lower elbow of the thumb (in Chinese acupuncture, on the elbow side of the spine). Changes and deviations of the lung meridian from normal values can reflect respiratory disorders or damage in the veins and arteries of the upper limbs.
Male large intestine (LI)
The location of the EAV points on the male colon is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese male. Colon meridian changes and deviations from normal values can reflect diseases of the colon, cecum, sigmoid colon, rectum, appendix, tonsils, paranasal sinuses, elbow or shoulder.
Neurological degeneration (NE)
Male neurodegeneration is described by Voll. Changes and deviations of this meridian from normal values can indicate damage in various parts of the central or peripheral nervous system, such as primary degenerative diseases, inflammatory diseases of the nervous system and their results, and abnormal brain development.
Circulation Men (CL)
The location of the EAV points on the blood circulation man is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man. Changes and deviations of men’s blood circulation from normal values can reflect damage in the blood circulation system (arteries, veins, lymphatic vessels) and may also be related to elbow and shoulder diseases.
Allergic Men (AL)
These men are described by Wool has been Changes and deviations of male allergy from normal values can be reflected Allergic processes in different parts of the human body and atherosclerosis.
Men’s Cell Metabolism (OR)
Mention of cellular metabolism is described by Voll. The measurement points correspond to the anatomical locations of the target affected organs.
Male Endocrine (Triple Warmer) (TW)
The location of the EAV points on the endocrine man is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man on the triple heating man. Male endocrine changes and deviations from normal values can reflect damage in the endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, breast, gonads, pituitary, pineal gland, adrenal glands).
Men of Hearts (HE)
The location of the EAV points on the heart man is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man. The changes and deviations of men’s heart from normal values can reflect heart diseases. including: heart valve, myocardium, endocardium, pericardium, cardiac conduction system.
Male small intestine (SI)
The location of the EAV points on the small intestine is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man. Changes and deviations of the small intestine in men from normal values can reflect damage in the duodenum, small intestine, cervical spinal cord, adenohypophysis, spiral vestibular nerve, earlobe and acoustic canal.
Male spleen-pancreas (PA-SP)
The location of the EAV points on the spleen-pancreas of men is the same as the acupuncture points of classical Chinese men.
Changes and deviations of the splenic-pancreatic men from normal values can reflect damage in the pancreas gland (the measurement of these men provides information about protein, carbohydrate metabolism, lipid exchange and ovules that create this type of metabolism). , from the spleen (red and white soft tissue activity is determined), ankle and hip joints, blood lymph nodes and chest and abdomen.
Male liver (LV)
The location of the EAV points on the liver man is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man.
Men’s changes and deviations of the liver from normal values can reflect damage to the liver (chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver), veins of the lower limbs, knee joints and gonads.
Joint Men (JO)
The joints are described by Woll. Changes and deviations of men’s joints from normal values can reflect damage in the joints.
Men Stomach (ST)
The location of the EAV points on the stomach is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man.
Changes and deviations of the stomach in men from normal values can reflect damage in the stomach, thyroid, parathyroid, gonads, ankle joint, knee joint, lower limb arteries, lingual and palatine tonsils.
Male fibroid degeneration (FL)
Non-classical EAV points described by Voll. Changes in FL value from normal values indicate that the cells of certain organs in different parts of the body are connected with the tissue, as well as the presence of polyps or papillomas.
Skin Men (SK)
Mendin skin is described by Voll. Changes and deviations of the skin from normal values can reflect damage to the skin (inflammation, allergy, wound).
Male adipose tissue (FA)
Male adipose tissue is described by Voll. Men’s skin changes and deviations from normal values can reflect pathological changes or destruction of lipid exchange (fat degeneration of organs, disorder of lipid exchange as a result of endocrine diseases, especially in diseases of the thyroid gland or bladder).
Gallbladder men (GB)
The location of the EAV points on the gallbladder is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man.
Changes and deviations of men’s gallbladder from normal values can reflect damage in the bladder and biliary system, brain, lower limb joints, ankle or hip joints, different parts of the brain, trigeminal nerve and eyes.
Male kidney (KI)
The location of the EAV points on the kidney man is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man.
But the first point of EAV in men is in the styloid process of the fifth toe and not on the sole of the foot. Changes and deviations of male kidney from normal values can reflect kidney, urethra, rectum, sternoclavicular joint damage.
bladder meridian (UB)
The location of the EAV points on the bladder is the same as the acupuncture points on the classical Chinese man. Male bladder changes and deviations from normal values can reflect damage to the genitourinary system, ankle and knee joints, spine and various brain structures.
